Received on 29.10.15 (slightly edited for clarity):

On Tuesday 27 a court case was held where it was decided if they extend the pre-trial detention of Monica and Francisco or to release them on bail pending trial. Bail was rejected and their detention has been extended.

Although the Spanish legislation provides for two years as the maximum time a person can remain in pre-trial detention, the State has the possibility to extend it (arguing some sort of exception in the case) beyond two years, and has done so.

Two years ago, on 13 November 2013 the two comrades were arrested along with three others. Monica and Francisco are awaiting trial on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization and conspiracy to cause havoc.

The same day as the court's resolution, 9 more anarchists were detained in a new blow to the anarchist movement. In Barcelona and Manresa ten warrants were served on houses and social spaces.

Despite this we just have to roll with the punches and keep going, showing our comrades that they are not alone and that our solidarity will not cease.
FREEDOM FOR ALL ANARCHIST PRISONERS!
SOLIDARITY WITH THE ARRESTED!

The counter-terrorism unit raided the home of the Theofilou family

The vengeful treatment of prisoners' families and relatives continues and the Theofilou family is at the epicenter of this tactic, despite the law reforms enacted by Minister of Justice Nicos Paraskevopoulos that forbid the criminalization of family relations.

On Monday, 5th of October, around 2pm, 7-8 men of the counter-terrorism unit intruded the residence of the parents of Tassos and Maria Theofilou, while other officers had remained outside.

According to Mrs. Theofilou, the men were conducting a search for four hours and were disrupting and destroying everything inside the rooms. They confiscated the family's personal computer, old mobile phones, keys and irrelevant documents such as addresses and phone numbers of friends of the family, as well as documents regarding the ownership of land and the correspondence between Maria and Tassos.

Because of the unexpected police raid, Mrs. Theofilou was forced to arrange for her two grandchildren (the children of Maria, aged two and four) to remain at a local park for four hours until the search was over.

The counter-terrorism units stated that the search was ordered by the 17th investigator who is in charge of the case of Tassos' sister. Maria was arrested, remanded and faces serious charges for participation in an unknown terrorist organization, without any incriminating evidence at hand, except her relationship to her partner and father of her children G. Petrakakos.

After Maria Theofilou's prosecution, her attorney, Spyros Phytrakis stated that the facts contained in the case file are not indicative that "we are dealing with a terrorist organization." In reference to the 36 year-old woman, he said:

"None of the added evidence proves that the two guns found in a wardrobe within the house were used by the woman, or that she was aware of them being kept there, or that she committed a delinquent act. Having two children with a man who has engaged in delinquency is not a crime. That was typical of a different time in the past. I hope that the interrogation will not cause problems to the woman and the two underage children."

A similar intrusion of the counter-terrorism unit took place at an empty house owned by the family in the city of Volos.

Athens, 7th of October 2015
Dr. Argyris Argyriades

We have systematically clarfied that the penalization of family relations and their use to reinforce an indictment is a constitutional construct that characterizes totalitarian regimes. It constitutes the most barbaric institutional process and practice.

Another typical example is the new ''grand success'' of the police in the arrest and detention of Mrs Maria Theofilou, a young mother of two toddlers (aged two and four) who is indicted on charges of being an accomplice of her partner and father of her children. This is a flagrantly unlawful prosecution of a relative which has taken place despite the law prepared by Minister of Justice Nicos Paraskevopoulos, that forbids this kind of treatment against relatives.

We consider the violent removal of the mother away from her children a psychologically pressurizing event bearing traumatic consequences to the mother as well as the children, since it contributes to separation anxiety. The dependence of toddlers at the age of two and even four on their mother is a very normal response based on the instict of survival. Children internalize the safety that stems from the mother's love and care, a process that was disrupted abruptly in this case. As the counter-terrorism unit raided the home of Maria's parents, her mother was forced to arrange that the children stayed away at a local park for four hours, which only made the situation worse.

We insist once again that the case against Mrs Maria Theofilou is the practical expression of institutional retribution of justice. It is obvious that her prosecution and detention resulted from her family relations. According to anthropologists all people are relatives of each other, which is why Maria's case is relevant to all of us.

We demand the immediate release of Maria Theofilou in order for her to reunite with her two children.

******

The Initiative for Prisoners' Rights demands the release of Maria Theofilou

The life choice of a husband or the accidental fact of parental or any kind of relationship to defendants continues to amount to incriminating evidence and has become the focal point for the expression of vengeful and inhumane treatment by the authorities based on a new kind of statutory familial co-responsibility.

The pre-trial detention and ill-treatment of defendants' families is not something new, it's a tactic that has been deployed for years in order to inflict psychological pressure and fear in defendants. The most recent case was that of Evi Statiri who remained in detention for six months until she became released following a geat struggle she carried through hungerstrike. The only incriminating evidence in Evi Statiri's case was the fact that she is the wife of political prisoner and member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire Gerasimmos Tsakalos.

The case of Maria Theofilou is even more unfair and vengeful on the part of the authorities, since the outcomes affect both of her children. Maria Theofilou - from the day she was pilloried when her photographs appeared in mass media- was remanded and her relationship to her husband and father of her two under-aged children (2 and 4 years old), G. Petrakakos, was used as ''evidence''.

It is obvious that for the authorities the separation of the two small children from their mother was not enough, despite the fact that at this age separation can be be a cause of trauma. This inhumane treatment goes to extremes when, in complete disregard for the children as well as Maria's parents, the police raided her parent's home resulting in the two toddlers having to stay at a park for four hours, which is how long the raid by the counter-terrorism unit lasted.

The most solid proof of the arbitrariness exhibited by the judicial and investigative authorities is the clear violation of the amendment introduced in the bill for prison reform voted in April 2015, which clarifies that family relations cannot be penalized.

For all these reasons analyzed above, the Initiative for Prisoners' Rights demands:

- that the prosecution and vengeful treatment against prisoners' families must be stopped
- adherence to the amendment of Minister of Justice Paraskevopoulos which de-penalizes family relations
- the immediate release of Maria Theofilou as a family member of a defendant and as a mother of two under-aged toddlers.

Maria Theofilou on her pre-trial detention and the effect on her children

Since Tuesday, September 29th, after five days of detention in the Counter-terrorism jail, I have been remanded in the women's section of Korydallos prison. The series of charges I am facing essentially occurred from harbouring my Partner.

Our children 2 and 4,5 years old had to endure the violent moment of their father's arrest but mainly the frightening experience of the attack against them since there were guns pointed at the four of us with excessive violence the moment we got in our car. These events along with the violent separation and weaning as well as the deprivation of both their parents pose a great risk to their mental health.

I would like to clarify that the only incriminating evidence against me, based on which my pre-trial detention was decided, was my relationship with my brother who is incarcerated in Domokos prison. It's worth noting that the final question I was asked by the interrogator and the prosecutor with a great amount of irony and satisfaction, as if this was proof of my guilt, was whether I have any siblings and where my brother is currently.

Considering that there is no evidence against me, I am asking for my temporary detention to be terminated so that I can return to my children. I am asking for an end to this vengeful prosecution and a treatment based on evidence and not my family relationships.

Maria Theofilou
PDF booklet of an extensive interview with anarchist prisoner Nikos Romanos put together by Act For Freedom Now website.

Nikos Romanos was a model teenager, a good student from the bourgeoisie, son of a well-known novelist, until on December 6, 2008 he was involved in a traumatic event. His best friend, the young anarchist Alexandros Grigoropoulos (15 years) falls under the bullets of the police in the streets of Athens. Shot in the heart, he dies in his arms. This event leads to some of the most intense urban riots of the early 21st century in the West, and Nikos is already there on the front line that same evening, enraged, dignified in the face of the media (total rejection), and respected by comrades despite his young age.

To the rhythm of the backlash from the Greek anarchist movement, Nikos is forever changed by this experience, immediately throwing himself headlong into the anarchist struggle, until his arrest five years later after a double armed robbery in the Kozani region. He is tortured and accused of belonging to the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire (armed anarchist-nihilist organization), which he denies, whereas he takes responsibility for the robberies (and their need in order to spread anarchy). He and his five co-accused Giannis Michailidis, Dimitris Politis, Andreas-Dimitris Bourzoukos, Argyris Dalios and Fivos Charisis, maintain a confrontational attitude towards justice throughout, but Argyris Dalios and Fivos Charisis categorically deny ALL charges in relation to the Velventos case. However, on October 1st 2014, they are all declared guilty of the robberies and each is sentenced to fifteen years’ prison. All six of them were acquitted of alleged involvement in the CCF.

Nikos Romanos has also claimed responsibility for four incendiary actions.

DOWNLOAD LINK Insurrection Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04401830941397398943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5374962975092287238.post-51917297050160815832015-10-21T05:35:00.001-07:002015-10-21T05:50:30.502-07:00USA: Transgender anarchist prisoner Amazon is on Hunger Strike and needs support!

Amazon, a trans woman from Gender Anarky imprisoned in California, began a hunger strike the morning of October 7, 2015 for transfer to a women's prison. Amazon is legally a woman. In January 2015, Amazon's birth certificate was amended by the Office of Vital Records in Sacramento to record her sex as "female." Under a new law signed by the governor, transgender prisoners no longer need full sex-reassignment surgery to amend their vital records, but instead a doctor's declaration of transition to reflect their current gender. Amazon accomplished this. She then applied for a transfer to a women's prison. The prison required Amazon to present her new birth certificate. However, prison rules prohibit inmates from possessing birth certificates and Amazon asked the prison to verify the document with the Office of Vital Records. The prison refused to do so. Amazon then attempted to file a grievance over the issue, but she was again required to produce her birth certificate to pursue a grievance. This is an example of the notorious mind games that prison officials play on inmates to suppress legitimate issues and prevent them from seeking an administrative resolution of the problem.

Without other speedy recourse and thoroughly frustrated with the system, Amazon began a hunger strike. She has been trying since January to transfer and has been prevented unrealistically every step of the way by prison officials out of plain cruelty. She is under tremendous pressure, has anguished and cried. Almost daily she is mistreated by prison guards and inmates because of her female presentation, including sexual mistreatment. She remains determined and steadfast and will not stop her efforts and resistance, whatever it takes. Amazon is now 61 years of age and the stress and strain of hunger strike will be on her more than during her previous strike years ago. However, the last straw has given way and she is determined to stick it out and not begin eating again until she is issued paperwork for a transfer to a women's prison. She will endure force-feeding if necessary, but this is her position.

Contact the warden of Kern Valley State Prison, Martin Biter, to inquire why he is keeping a legal female in a men's prison against her will and why he won't verify her legal gender on her birth certificate with the Office of Vital Records in Sacramento, and demand that Amazon be transferred to a women's prison immediately. The phone number for Kern Valley State Prison is (661) 721-6300.
On 2nd Nov 2015, Irom Sharmila will be completing 15 years of hunger strike to demand the Repeal of AFSPA, or Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Irom Sharmila’s hunger strike is now the longest running hunger strike in the world.

AFSPA is responsible for human rights violations in the Indian North East and Jammu & Kashmir, and is used to cover up hundreds of reported fake killings, rapes, disappearance and torture cases by the Indian Army.

No justice has been meted out to the murderers, as under AFSPA, security personnels are free to shoot to kill, with unchecked powers.

Irom Sharmila is demanding a repeal of this act through her peaceful hunger strike. The Indian Government has ignored her fast, and has instead, arrested and put her in jail under section 309, for attempt to suicide.

To mark Irom Sharmila’s 15 years of hunger strike and to salute her spirit to fight for this cause, activists are calling a Nationwide Protest to repeal AFSPA.

We are inviting individuals and organizations throughout the world to collaborate with us and to make it a joint effort.
Some background information about Marius:

Marius Mason is an anarchist, an environmental and animal rights prisoner serving nearly 22 years in federal prison for acts of sabotage carried out in defense of the planet. No one was injured in any of these actions. After being threatened with a life sentence in 2009, he pleaded guilty to charges of arson at a Michigan State University lab researching Genetically Modified Organisms for Monsanto, and admitted to 12 other acts of property damage. The sentencing judge applied a so-called “terrorism enhancement” to his term which added almost two more years than the maximum requested by the prosecution. This is the harshest punishment of anyone convicted of environmental sabotage to date.

Marius is incarcerated in the high security Administration Unit at the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas. According to the prison’s own literature, the unit is “designed for female inmates with histories of escapes, chronic behavior problems, repeated incidents of assaultive or predatory behavior, or other special management concerns.” Marius has never violated any prison rules. Clearly, he is being held in this unit because of his political beliefs and in an effort to silence him.

Marius’ gymnasium-sized unit, housing up to 20 prisoners, causes severe distress and worsens the debilitating mental illnesses and PTSD from which some of the prisoners suffer. The confinement and isolation result in periodic acts of violence and suicide attempts as women struggle to maintain sanity in these conditions.
The prisoners are only allowed to exercise in a small, fenced-in, concrete, outdoor area topped by double-coiled razor wire where there is little room for physical activity.

The unit is frequently and unpredictably locked down for hours on end due to violence and suicide attempts resulting from the claustrophobic and oppressive conditions. Prisoners leave the building for medical treatment, but only after a protracted wait and fierce advocacy on the part of the prisoner even though Carswell is ostensibly a medical facility. Access to mental health counseling, medical care, and educational opportunities are greatly diminished because of security issues.

Inmates who are housed there because of behavioral issues are told what they have to do to be transferred. They are given structured programs and measurable goals so that they may eventually return to the prison’s general population. But not Marius. As a political prisoner, he has no idea what he needs to do, if anything, in order to be released from his strict confinement.

The psychological corrosiveness of a sterile environment, the lack of adequate access to exercise and mental simulation, the psychological trauma suffered by all of the prisoners, and the seeming impossibility of attaining freedom from this unit constitutes a cruel, but unfortunately, not an unusual punishment. The unit exacerbates and worsens the behavior it says it works to correct. It should be closed and Marius and the other prisoners moved from it immediately.

It is urgent that we do everything within our power to move Marius to the general population of a low security facility and then work to reduce his outrageous prison term. The unfairness of his sentence can be seen when compared to those meted out to others.

Recently, a man who set an arson for profit fire that paralyzed a Detroit firefighter and injured six of his colleagues was sentenced to a maximum of seven years in prison. Rebecca Rubin, accused by the government of taking part in 20 fires attributed to the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front that did $40 million in damage, pleaded guilty and received the federal minimum sentence of five years.

It is unclear why the government has singled out Marius for such a harsh sentence and strict confinement, but every day he is forced to live in these conditions takes a toll on his mental and physical health.

We demand that he be removed from this restrictive unit and transferred to a prison near his family and friends. And, that his sentence be reduced to that of Rebecca Rubin’s.

For more information visit Marius's support site HERE
The first thing you realize once you are released is that your eyes no longer stumble into walls, railings and dividers. They can wander and see the sky without seeing barbed wire. Also, your footsteps are no longer numbered. Twenty up to the wall of the courtyard, twenty to return to your cell. Certainly in my own case the walls of the courtyard have expanded to a kilometer from my house and I am not allowed to have any contact with my partner...

But anyway, I feel my release is just the first victory against the fear and injustice they want to impose upon us as a condition of life...
Cristian Levinao Melinao who was serving a 10 year sentenced for robbery with violence to fund the Mapuche struggle decided to escape from CET prison along with fellow prisoner Hector Moreno Muñoz who was recaptured a day later.

From hiding Cristian issued a video statement rejecting the legal charges against him and outlining the position of the Mapuche struggle.

At dawn on September 20, 2015, an incendiary device set fire to the retired gendarmes building. Proceedings were initiated quickly to find those responsible for the arson attack against former jailers. In this context, on September 22nd heavily armed GOPE troops entered a home in Padre Las Casas. During the raid troops allegedly found ammunition, an M-16 rifle, a .22 caliber revolver, a pistol, a sub-machine gun, mechanical detonators, explosives and other devices.

Felipe Duran, a freelance photographer was arrested in the house. The 'anti-Marxist Movement HUSAR' group had stated days before that they were tracking Felipe for being a 'terrorist' and for maintaining relations with anarchists.

This group pointed out that the arrests were carried out thanks to their 'intelligence' and their coordination with the police.

In the raided home, police managed to arrest another person who despite giving a false name and refusing to provide information was eventually identified as the fugitive Cristian Levinao Melinao. Both were transferred to a police station and then to court under heavy security. At court Cristian announced: "This is a political persecution by the state and the government."

The back slapping between oppressors

In Santiago, Mahmud Aleuy, undersecretary of the interior stated: "Fortunately he will now fulfill the remainder of his sentence in a detention center accordingly." Interior Minister Jorge Burgos stated: "From the standpoint of people avoiding crimes with impunity this is certainly good news." Meanwhile the infamous Bruno Villalobos, current CEO of police and former DIPOLCAR when bringing cases again other comrades, was happy that the police operation "is the culmination of very good intelligence work, the only thing we want is to bring peace to our citizens."

Finally, the mayor of La Araucanaia, Andres Jouannet told reporters: "When one does not adapt to society, then it is understood that you still live with other people and must respect their rules and laws. In cases where this is not clear or they do not understand what is happening then we have to make these people function within society and respect rules and fundamental laws."

The prosecutor Cristian Paredes highlighted the coordination of high complexity with police re: the whereabouts of Leviano, "that allows us today to celebrate two important achievements: a person who escaped custody was apprehended and will be made by the courts to effectively serve the penalty imposed upon him which is no less than 10 years and one day.

Formalized charges

The Mapuche Crisitan Leviano Melinao was taken to Angol prison to continue his 10 years sentence and as formally charged with concealing his identity and various offences under the arms control law. Meanwhile Felipe is being prosecuted under the arms control law and was taken to jail in Temuco. The court has given the prosecution a 45 day investigation period.

Following the arrests and formalization of charges, the fascist paramilitary group 'Husares' feverishly issued a defamatory statement that also demonstrates it's active participation in the police force.
On October 1st the San Miguel court of appeals revoked the house arrest status of anarchist Enrique Guzman and ordered him to return to Santiago prison. It should be recalled that Enrique has been criminalized by the Chilean state for expressing solidarity and friendship with anarchist prisoners Juan Flores and Nataly Casanova. Juan and Nataly undertook a 30+ day hunger strike earlier this year, one of the core demands was the freedom of Enrique. Enrique was released but then returned to jail after an appeal by the prosecutors. Enrique had only been granted house arrest status a couple of days before it was revoked.
The judicial council has finally decided to consider the legal amendment enacted by Minister of Justice Nicos Paraskevopoulos and granted a conditional release for the 26 year-old hunger striker. The ruling came 20 days after the submission of her appeal and on the 19th day of Evi's hunger strike. The previous six appeals made by Evi were rejected by the same council, which conveys a strong political message, as members of the fascist Golden Dawn were being released with no restrictions during the same time period.

The restrictive terms prohibit Evi from leaving the country or communicating with other individuals facing similar charges. She must also register with a local police department three times a month.

The hunger strike caused Evi's health to deteriorate within a short amount of time. Evi has been hospitalized in Nikaia General Hospital since Monday following two episodes of severe hypoglycaemic shocks which, along with other symptoms such as acute appendicitis, were a major source of concern for doctors. Doctors had warned that the young woman would be facing life-threatening conditions had she carried-on with the hunger strike. Evi will remain hospitalized until she reaches full recovery and according to mainstream media she will be removed from the ward assigned to prisoners.

Based on the nature of the restrictive conditions she is now prevented from having any kind of contact with her partner, Gerasimos Tsakalos, who remains in Korydallos prison. Gerasimos was also on hunger strike for 19 days in order to show his support and solidarity with the brave and fair struggle of his wife.
Evi Statiri's health has deteriorated severely, according to the recent medical report written by doctors Olga Kosmopoulou and Spyros Sakkas, who describe her suffering from acute appendicitis along with a variety of symptoms such as dehydration, postural hypotension, palpitations during standing-up, low blood sugar levels and disturbances of repolarization on the ECG. Evi was hospitalized on Monday, following two hypoglycaemic shocks as a result of her then two-week hunger strike.

The young woman's body was already fragile before the hunger strike as she was diagnosed with anaemia caused from iron deficiency and appeared to be having very low body mass index.

Evi is no longer receiving an IV treatment. She has lost 12.2% of her initial body weight so far and the appendicitis symptoms are becoming worse.

Doctors warn that continuing the hunger strike will cause irreversible damage to her body within a very short period of time and fears were expressed regarding the young woman's life. Evi is now entering a stage characterized by sudden episodes of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats) which can put her life at risk.
As of today, September 30th 2015, we participate in the mobilisation of prisoners throughout Greece (at the prisons of Trikala, Domokos, Grevena, and the women’s and men’s prisons of Koridallos in Athens) for the immediate RELEASE of Evi Statiri, wife of political prisoner-member of the Cells of Fire Gerasimos Tsakalos.

Evi has already been admitted to the General State Hospital of Nikaia, having entered her 16th day on hunger strike.

Solely responsible for her life are the justice minister — who enacted an amendment-scrap of paper for the cessation of prosecution against relatives of inmates, which nevertheless remains inactive — as well as the judicial council where the request for Evi’s release has been filed – who are procrastinating at the expense of her constantly deteriorating health.

Until Evi is released from prison, we refuse the midday lock-up and count in our cells.

It’s been 7 months since the imprisonment of my companion Evi Statiri in the cells of democracy. The only ‘offence’ she ever committed is her personal relationship with me. At the same time, my mother Athena Tsakalou lives as an exile on Salamis Island by decision of the judicial junta.

It’s been 7 months since the Power’s experimentations that have widened the circle of repression against friends and relatives of political prisoners, aiming to disseminate fear among people who stand in solidarity with the latter, and to impose a peculiar quarantine regime on captive urban guerrillas. Through the criminalisation of family-friendly relationships, the Power seeks to amputate every bond of solidarity that permeates the prison walls and fuels the struggle for freedom. Right at this moment, the endurances of our own world — a world that has never learned to bow its head — are being put to the test by the police-judiciary machinery of the Power, who are simultaneously taking the pulse of its reactions. With every step we take backwards, the totalitarianism of the statist beast gains ground.

Fear has expansionist tendencies… If that which is being tested today against political prisoners is not slaughtered at birth, it will spread like a plague, striking everyone who wants to live rebelliously without accepting orders or commanders in his/her life. There are many things that I would like to say but, in such moments, actions speak louder than words. Since September 14th Evi has launched a hunger strike fighting for her liberation. Since September 14th I have stood by her side, just like over recent years she has stood by my side, and I have since that date been on hunger strike myself, despite the contrary opinion of doctors, who have outright disagreed with me because it’s only been a short while since the previous hunger strike in which I participated came to an end. My only request is Evi’s liberation. My hunger strike is the only weapon I now have as a prisoner so as to stand in solidarity with Evi. It is part of a polymorphous solidarity that has already begun to manifest itself across Greece within the space of struggle and anarchy. So, there’s really no need to lose focus of the very purpose of the struggle for Evi’s liberation by making mention of my hunger strike or me personally. As I stated before, my hunger strike is my way of declaring myself present at mobilisations of people who stand in solidarity with Evi’s struggle. It is my contribution to solidarity actions that are being accelerated in order to derail — by means of anarchy — the history that we have never recognised as our own as is written by laws, judges, cops and the Power.

That the struggle for Evi’s liberation and for the cessation of prosecution against relatives-friends of political prisoners be the detonator for restarting anarchist offensive, reclaiming the streets, igniting barricades, intensifying desires, waging urban guerrilla warfare, and wagering on total liberation.
On Sunday morning at 2:00AM I was taken to the prison hospital due to hypoglycemic shock. The doctors there diagnosed that it was necessary to transfer me to an outside hospital.
I was returned to the prison and later on Sunday morning after a visit from doctors Sakka and Kosmopoulou the prison doctors requested my urgent transfer to an outside hospital.

The request for my release was filed twenty days ago with the judicial council who will have to decide if a human life is of less value than maintaining false accusations that serve the plans and interests of power.
September 15th 2015:

It is a longstanding as well as an infamous tactic of the State — particularly of the police-judicial mechanism — to use fabricated charges against relatives so as to hold them hostage and put pressure on fighters and political prisoners. It was done in 2002 [against Angeliki Sotiropoulou, wife of 17N prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas], it was done in 2010 [against Marie Beraha, wife of Revolutionary Struggle prisoner Kostas Gournas], and it was done again in March 2015 [against Evi Statiri, wife of CCF prisoner Gerasimos Tsakalos, but also against Athena Tsakalou, mother of the Tsakalos brothers]. This is because the repressive policy applied against imprisoned members of armed organisations is an ongoing process of political extermination by any means.

After its capitulation on February 20th, the SYRIZA-led government was faced with the first class confrontation — that is, the hunger strike of political prisoners during Spring — and was compelled to vote favorably — among others – on an amendment that theoretically opened the way for the relatives of CCF members to be released. Today, after being refused her liberation six times by judicial councils, Evi Statiri, companion of an imprisoned member of the organisation, is still in prison. Her case is the clearest proof, not only of the acceptance of a state of emergency surrounding the memorandum by the government of the Left, but also of the strict application of a state of exception for political prisoners.

For those in society who had the clarity and determination to approach the ‘no’ vote in the referendum in a class manner and to oppose every memorandum, though without being able to take the next step forward, the question of an alternative way other than the one of delegation or relinquishment, which all the bourgeois parliamentary forces are charting, is more pressing than ever. And this is no other way than struggle and solidarity. Evi’s way…
Since the 14th of September our imprisoned comrade Evi Statiri has been on a hunger strike to demand her immediate release.

Evi is held in prison without any incriminating evidence in existence to support the ridiculous indictment against her.

The real reason behind her prosecution is that she has chosen to be the partner of one of our fellow inmates and member of CCF, Gerasimos Tsakolos.

The targeting of relatives is a vindictive act of power that aims to subjugate and emotionally blackmail prisoners who remain rebellious and dangerous to the orderly functioning of the prison.

The amendment passed by the former Justice minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos turned out to be a scrap of paper that had the sole aim of tricking the hunger strikers who had reached the brink of death. After many months it remains provocatively unapplied.

The struggle to stop the criminalization of relatives and partners of prisoners is a common struggle that affects all detainees. This is why today in a show of solidarity with Evi Statiri we refused to enter our cells at midday.

Five months ago after a hunger strike by political prisoners, a law was passed abolishing Type 'C' prisons. However, the 'C' type detention regime remains essentially the same for us. The exception regime remains, the separation remains as does the special treatment against political prisoners.

The vindictiveness of the state remains against those who dynamically questioned the armed monopoly of state violence. And now the vindictiveness is extended by fascist cowards towards the relatives and personal relationships of political prisoners. The power restores once again the old practice of hostage.

It exiles Athena Tsakalou and prohibits her from visiting her children. It keeps Evi Statiri, the life partner of an imprisoned member of CCF, in prison for six months violating laws and even the recommendations of the prosecutor.

And so it is proven once again that the state of emergency remains as a key prerequisite for implementation of the atrocious new memorandum, by applying a 'sensitive' hand to the observance of the rights of the 'left.'

Evi Statiri is currently on the ninth day of hunger strike. Armed only with her body - physically weak but movingly spirited - it is obvious she is not just fighting for her own release. Her struggle is another small piece in a much larger, older struggle that reminds us all of what is taking place today, that all the rights currently under attack by capital were won through struggles that had their cost in blood, pain and tears.

This is why solidarity should be given generously by all those who consider themselves to be fighters.
Our aim is to provide coverage, solidarity and support for insurrectionist anarchist prisoners and other revolutionary combatants held hostage by states worldwide as well as covering and participating in the global anti-prison struggle. We are based in the stolen territories commonly referred to as 'Australia' however this project will have a non-regional specific focus. We also aim to make this project much more than just an online presence and as this project starts to gather momentum we look forward to bringing you action reports from these territories too. Email contact details will be made available as soon as possible.

Fire To The Prisons!
Burn The Prison Society!

Imprisoned Fighters Solidarity Network
September 2015. Insurrection Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04401830941397398943noreply@blogger.com
